Privacy Policy
A plain description of what Corri stores about you, why, and who it passes through on the way to generating a reply.
01What Corri is
Corri is an app for texting with AI companions you create and configure yourself — their personality, backstory, and how they text you. To do that, Corri has to send your messages to a language model, remember things about your conversations, and know who you are well enough to keep a subscription and a message allowance. This page explains exactly what that requires.
02What we collect
| Category | What it is | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Account | Email address, account creation date | Sign-in and identifying your subscription |
| Conversations | Messages you send and receive, timestamps | Generating replies, showing your chat history |
| Companions | Names, personas, backstories, and behavior settings you write for each companion | Powering how that companion texts you |
| Memory | Facts, preferences, and running jokes Corri infers from your conversations | So a companion remembers you between chats |
| Device | Push notification token, timezone | Delivering messages, timing replies to your local day |
| Usage | Messages sent this billing period, subscription tier | Enforcing your plan's message allowance |
| Purchases | Subscription status and purchase history (via Apple & RevenueCat) | Unlocking the plan you paid for |
| Diagnostics | Basic technical logs (errors, connection status) | Fixing bugs when something breaks |
03How it's used
Your messages are sent to a language model to generate your companion's reply, and periodically scanned to extract memories — facts worth remembering for later conversations. None of it is used to train any model, shown to other users, or used for advertising. Corri doesn't run ads and doesn't have an ad network integrated.
Especially personal details. Because you write freely, a message can mention your health, your sexual orientation, your beliefs, or something equally private. European law calls these special categories and treats them differently: they may only be processed with your explicit permission, which is why Corri asks for it before you start and won't let you chat until you've given it. Corri never asks for these details, never analyses them separately, and never passes them to anyone beyond the providers listed below. You can withdraw that permission at any time in Settings, in the same number of taps it took to give — your account and conversations stay where they are, and processing stops.
One thing worth knowing: this permission covers what you say about yourself. You can't give permission on behalf of someone else, so please don't write another person's health details or similar into a conversation.
04Who else sees it
Corri is built on a small number of infrastructure providers, each handling a specific part of the app. None of them see more than the category of data listed below.
We don't sell your data, and we don't share it with anyone outside this list.
05What we don't collect
Not part of Corri
06Retention & deletion
Your conversations and companions are kept for as long as your account exists, so your companions stay consistent over time. You can delete an individual companion — and its conversation and memories — from inside the app at any time. You can also delete your whole account from Settings → Delete account; that removes every companion, conversation and memory from our database immediately, and there is no way to get any of it back.
"Immediately" is true of our live database, and we'd rather give you the honest version of what happens after that:
| Where | How long it survives deletion |
|---|---|
| Corri's database | Gone at once. |
| Encrypted database backups | Up to 7 days, then the backup itself expires on its normal rotation. |
| Anthropic and OpenAI | Up to 30 days. Both delete what was sent to generate replies within 30 days; neither trains on it. Anthropic keeps material longer only where an account is flagged for breaking its usage policy. |
| Technical logs | Deleted automatically after 90 days, whether or not you still have an account. |
07Your choices
- Download my data — in Settings. Hands you everything on your account as a JSON file: profile, companions, conversations, messages and memories.
- Withdraw data permission — in Settings. Stops the processing of especially personal details described in section 03. Nothing is deleted.
- Delete a companion — removes that companion's conversation history and memories.
- Delete your account — in Settings. Permanent, and covered in section 06.
- Push notifications — can be turned off in iOS Settings at any time.
- Subscription — manage or cancel any time from Corri's Settings tab, or directly through your Apple Account.
08Data protection rights
Corri is operated from Germany, so if you're in the EU or UK, these rights are guaranteed to you under GDPR. We extend the same six to every user, regardless of where you are.
Erasure and portability you can exercise yourself, from Settings, without asking us. For the rest, use the contact details at the bottom of this page; we respond within 30 days.
09Age & mature content
Corri is rated 17+ on the App Store. Companion personalities are fully configurable, and some settings can produce strong language or mature themes. This app is intended for adult users.
10Security
Data is encrypted in transit and access to it is restricted by row-level security, meaning your conversations and companions are only ever readable by your own account. No system is perfectly secure, but Corri does not store anything it doesn't need to run the app.
11Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a way that materially affects how your data is handled, we'll update the effective date above and, where required, notify you in the app.
